Add a confidentiality disclaimer

Your administrator can add a confidentiality disclaimer to the bottom of outgoing mail, especially mail to outside recipients. If editing is allowed, clicking Send shows the Disclaimer text so you can review or change it for this mail, then confirm. The disclaimer cannot be left blank. If editing is not allowed, it is added automatically.

For: Everyone, Domain adminWebSecurity

How to add a confidentiality disclaimer

  1. Write your mail and click Send.
  2. If the disclaimer box opens, read the Disclaimer text.
  3. Edit it for this mail if needed. It cannot be left blank.
  4. Confirm to send the mail with the disclaimer at the bottom.

When to use it

A law firm adds "This email is confidential and may be legally privileged" to every mail leaving the firm. Advocate Iyer edits the line for one mail to name the client matter it refers to.

Good to know

  • The disclaimer text and whether it is on are set by your domain administrator.
  • Users can edit the text only if the administrator turns on Edit Disclaimer While Sending.
  • The disclaimer works in both new and Classic compose.
