Save and recover files in XgenOffice

XgenOffice for Windows saves files on your PC in Microsoft Office formats. Press Ctrl+S to save, or turn on AutoSave to save every 30 seconds. If the app closes unexpectedly, it offers a recovered version next time. Only what you edit changes; the rest of the file is kept as it was.

Good to know

  • XgenOffice for Windows is in Beta: free for paid XgenPlus plans, provided without support or warranty until its final release.
  • AutoSave is off by default. A recovery copy is kept every 30 seconds either way.
  • Docs and Sheets export as PDF. Slides exports as PDF or pictures.
  • Macros (VBA) and links to other workbooks are kept in the file but do not run.
  • If a document uses fonts that are not on your PC, the app shows a substitute and tells you.

Common questions

Will my file still open in Microsoft Office?

Yes. Files stay in .docx, .xlsx and .pptx format. If a save could not keep part of the file safely, the app refuses to save instead of dropping content.

What does "Overwrite?" mean when I save?

The file was changed on disk by another app after you opened it. Choose whether to replace it with your version.

Where are deleted files?

Deleting a file from the Home screen moves it to the Windows Recycle Bin, where you can restore it.
