Use To, Cc and Bcc

Put the people who must act on your mail in To. Use Cc for people who only need to know; everyone can see To and Cc addresses. Use Bcc to hide addresses, so recipients cannot see who else got the mail. To send one mail to many people, type several addresses separated by commas.

For: EveryoneWeb

How to use to, cc and bcc

  1. Click Compose Mail.
  2. Type the main recipients in To. Separate several addresses with commas.
  3. Click Cc to add people who should be kept informed.
  4. Click Bcc to add people whose addresses others should not see.
  5. Write the mail and click Send.

When to use it

Kavita sends a holiday notice to 40 dealers. She puts her own address in To and all the dealers in Bcc, so no dealer sees the others' addresses, and copies her manager in Cc.

Which field to use

Field Use it for Others can see the address?
To People who must read or act on the mail Yes
Cc People who should be kept informed Yes

Good to know

  • To, Cc and Bcc all count towards any recipient limit your administrator sets.
  • Using Bcc for large outside lists protects everyone's privacy.
  • For a personal copy to each member of a contact group, use Group Mail in Classic compose.

Common questions

How do I send the same mail to many people at once?

Type or paste all the addresses in To, Cc or Bcc, separated by commas or semicolons. For people you mail often, create a contact group and send to the group.

Does a Bcc recipient get my replies to everyone?

No. When someone clicks Reply All, the mail goes to the sender and the To and Cc addresses only, never to Bcc.

Is there a limit on how many people I can add?

Your administrator can set a limit. If you pass it, XgenPlus tells you the number, and you can split the mail.
