Example
A state department keeps two years of mail in the live store and archives older mail to a database server at 10.0.5.20, port 5432, database mail_archive. Rohit, the server administrator, clicks Test Connection before saving and checks the health panel the next morning.
Good to know
- The archive database applies to the whole XgenPlus server, not one domain. Only server administrators set it. Domain administrators cannot configure it.
- If you already have a database, the years you enter cannot be more than the years it is already set to.
Common questions
Can I have more than one archive database?
You can list more than one, but XgenPlus will not let you add another until the date shown in its message has passed.
Can I switch archiving off by entering 0?
No. The years box does not accept 0. To stop using a database, delete its entry with the remove icon in the list.
