Send a large file as a link
If you attach a file larger than the attachment limit, the Smart Attachment box opens. Click OK-Make it Accessible as Link to save the file in your Storage and send recipients a download link instead. Click No-Keep it as Attachment to cancel. The file uses your Storage space, so you need enough free space.
How to send a large file as a link
- Attach the large file as usual.
- When Smart Attachment opens, click OK-Make it Accessible as Link.
- Wait while the file is saved to your Storage.
- Send the mail. Recipients get a link to download the file.
When to use it
Vivek, an architect, attaches a 120 MB drawing for a client. Smart Attachment saves it to his Storage and adds a link, so the mail goes through and the client downloads the drawing.
Good to know
- Smart Attachment appears only when a file is larger than the maximum attachment size your administrator has set.
- You need free Storage space for the file.
- To link a file that is already in Storage, use Add Storage Link instead.
Common questions
When does the Smart Attachment box appear?
Only when the file is larger than the maximum attachment size. Smaller files attach normally.
What if I delete the file from Storage later?
The link stops working. Keep the file in Storage for as long as recipients need it.
