Fields
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Type | Alert, Notice, News or Notification. The first three show in the inbox. Notification sends the message as a notification on the app. |
| Message | The text to show. It cannot be empty. |
| Display in | Black or Red: the colour of the message in the inbox. Shown for Alert, Notice and News. |
| Disabled | Yes / No. Appears when a message already exists. Yes hides the message from users. |
| Send Notification on App | Yes / No. Appears for Notice. Yes also sends the notice as a notification on the app. |
| Announce | Saves and publishes the message. |
On screen, a note under the box says the message is shown automatically while the user is watching the inbox.
Example
Rohit announces on Friday: "The mail server will be updated tonight at 11 PM. Please save your drafts." He sets Type to Notice, Display in to Red and clicks Announce. On Monday he opens Shout Box, sets Disabled to Yes and clicks Announce to remove it.
Good to know
- A message you save replaces the one before it for your domain.
- The message is limited to plain text. Symbols, quotes and tags are removed or refused.
- Only your own domain is affected.
Common questions
How do I take a message down?
Open Shout Box, switch Disabled to Yes and click Announce again. The Disabled switch appears once a message has been saved.
Why are some characters removed as I type?
The message box removes special characters such as quotes, brackets and symbols, and the page refuses % & ' and double quotes. Use plain words, numbers, spaces and full stops.
