Open Storage a colleague shared

When a colleague shares their Storage folder with you, it appears in your left folder pane with the owner's address after its name. Click it to open it in Shared Storage mode. You can view and download files, and delete them if the owner allowed it. You cannot upload, rename or move files there.

How to open storage a colleague shared

  1. Ask the owner to share their Storage folder with you.
  2. In the left pane of your mailbox, click the shared Storage entry, shown with the owner's address.
  3. Browse the folders, and preview or download the files you need.

When to use it

The head of operations at acme.in shares her Policies folder with the whole domain, so staff always download the current SOPs from one place.

Good to know

  • A banner shows that you are in Shared Storage and whose it is.
  • The usage bar shows the owner's space, not yours.
  • + New and Office editing are not available in shared mode.

Common questions

Why can't I upload to a shared Storage folder?

Shared Storage is for viewing and downloading. Only the owner can add, rename or move files.
