What is created with the domain
- A postmaster mailbox for the domain, with a welcome mail.
- When the domain is allowed more than five users, the service mailboxes abuse, webmaster, broadcast and syncerror as well.
- A public group named after the domain.
- The default server alert messages, copied to the new domain.
After you save, the form is cleared so you can add the next domain.
Example
Rohit at a hosting company in Pune adds acme.in for a client. He sets 50 users, 20 GB space, keeps sharing With in Domain and leaves Set Domain As Default off. Meera, the client's IT lead, is then given an administrator account on the new domain.
Good to know
- Only a server administrator can add a domain.
- Domain aliases, extra domain administrators and the domain options are set after the domain exists, from the domain's own page in Manage Domain(s).
- Services, daily limits and user rights for the new domain's users are set from the domain's settings or from Bulk Update.
Common questions
What do I see if the domain already exists?
A message says Domain Already Exists and nothing is created. Choose a different name or open the existing domain from the Manage Domain(s) list.
Can I change the domain name later?
The name is chosen when you create the domain. Check the spelling before you save.
