Connect an AI agent with the MCP Gateway
Coming soon. The XgenPlus MCP Gateway will let an AI agent, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code or another MCP client, work with one consenting user's mailbox through the Model Context Protocol. The first version is read-only. The agent can list folders, search and read mail, threads, attachments and contacts. Your administrator gives you the gateway address and an agent password.
How to connect an ai agent with the mcp gateway
- Ask your administrator for the MCP Gateway address and an agent password for your mailbox.
- In your AI client, add a new MCP server with that address.
- Give the client your email address and the agent password, as your administrator instructs.
- Ask the agent a question, such as "summarise unread mail from my manager this week".
When to use it
Leena, an executive at acme.in, asks Claude to find every vendor quote she received in October and list the prices. The agent searches and reads her mailbox through the gateway, and nothing in the mailbox is changed.
What the agent can do

Good to know
- Each agent password belongs to one user and carries its own permissions.
- Every action the agent takes is recorded in an audit log.
- Mail content is passed to the agent as untrusted data, which helps defend against instructions hidden in incoming mail.
- The gateway is a separate service. Your server administrator installs it.
- The mail an agent reads is passed to the AI client you connect. Use only AI tools that your organisation has approved.
Common questions
Does the agent see my main password?
No. The agent uses a separate agent password that can be revoked without changing your own password.
Can the agent send mail for me?
Not in the first version. It is read-only, so the agent can read and search but cannot send, move or delete mail.
Does reading a mail through the agent mark it as read?
No. Mails the agent opens keep their unread status.
