# Add your recovery details

To add recovery details, open **Settings › Security › Security**. Enter your **Alternate E-mail ID**, your mobile number, and choose a **Hint Question** with its **Hint Answer**. Click **Update** and enter the verification code XgenPlus sends you. These details let you reset a forgotten password and receive two-step login codes.

## How to add your recovery details

1. Click your profile picture, choose **Settings**, open **Security** and then the **Security** tab.
2. Enter your **Alternate E-mail ID**. It must be different from your XgenPlus address.
3. Enter your mobile number without the 91 country code.
4. Choose a **Hint Question** and type the **Hint Answer**.
5. Click **Update**, then enter the verification code you receive.

## When to use it

> Vikram joins acme.in and adds his personal email and hint question on the first day. Months later he forgets his password on a Sunday and resets it himself with a link sent to his personal mail.

## Options

| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| **Alternate E-mail ID** | Receives password reset links and two-step login codes. Must differ from your XgenPlus address. |
| Mobile | Your registered mobile number. It also lets you sign in by typing the number instead of your address. |
| **Hint Question** / **Hint Answer** | Used to reset your password when you have no other recovery contact. |
| **Home IP** / **Office IP** | Optional. Limits sign-in to these addresses. |
| **Allowed Country** | Optional. Limits sign-in to the countries you choose. |
| **Enable 2-Step Authentication** | Asks for a code after your password. Shown only if your administrator allows it. |

## Good to know

- Your administrator can hide the Security tab. If you cannot see it, ask them to update your details.
- The verification check is usually asked once a day, the first time you change a setting.

## Common questions

**What is the "Add Security To Your Account" screen at login?**

XgenPlus shows it when your account has no alternate email or mobile number. Fill them in so you can recover your account later, or click **Skip** to do it another time.

**Why do I need a code to save my changes?**

XgenPlus checks that it is really you before changing details that control account recovery. Enter the code sent to your alternate email, or use the Web Login code from the mobile app if offered.
