# Add a customer and their domain as a partner

In the partner dashboard, open **Customers**, click **New customer** and enter the company and contact details. Then use **Add domain** on that customer to buy a plan for their domain, and open **DNS & setup** to give the records to add. Or click **Send pay link to a customer** and XgenPlus emails them a payment link.

## How to add a customer and their domain as a partner

1. Open **Customers** and click **New customer**.
2. Enter the customer or company name and contact person. Email, phone and GSTIN are optional.
3. Click **Create customer**. If a similar customer exists, choose **Open existing** or **Create anyway**.
4. On the customer, click **Add domain** and complete the buy steps, or use **Send pay link to a customer**.
5. Open **DNS & setup** and add the shown records at the customer's DNS host, then click **Check now**.

## When to use it

> Sunil signs a new client, Patel Traders. He creates the customer, adds patel.in with 12 users, and sends the DNS records to the client's web person. Two days later the domain shows as verified and he uses the admin console shortcut to create the mailboxes.

## What you can do for a customer

| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| **Add domain** | Starts the buy steps for that customer so the domain attaches to the right record. |
| **Add more users** | Buys extra mailboxes on the domain. Priced pro-rata to the current expiry, billed to you, and earns commission. |
| **Upgrade from trial** | Moves a trial domain to a paid plan. |
| **Send pay link** | XgenPlus emails a payment link and bills the customer directly. |
| **Renewal reminder** | Shows you the email with the amounts for 1 to 5 years, then sends it to the customer. A reminder is not sent again within 24 hours. |

## Good to know

- Open **Add domain** from inside a customer. When you click **Add a domain** at the top, you are asked whether it is for a new customer, an existing one or your own organisation.
- If the MX record is not set, the dashboard shows **MX pending**: the mailboxes are ready but incoming mail will not arrive.
- Trial plans never earn commission.

## Common questions

**What is the difference between Managed by you and Referred?**

A managed customer is handled from your panel. A referred customer signed up through your referral link and manages their own account, and you earn commission on their orders.

**How does a pay link work?**

Enter the customer, domain, admin mailbox name, plan, users and years. XgenPlus emails the customer a payment link and bills the customer directly. You pay nothing and earn commission once they pay.

**How do I manage a customer's users?**

Use **Manage users on mail server** to open the admin console for that domain in a new tab with no password needed. Allow pop-ups if your browser blocks the tab.
