# Swipe a message to act on it

Swipe a row right to select it, or swipe left to mark it read or unread. You can change what each swipe does in Settings, Interaction. The choices are None, Toggle selection, Toggle read, Toggle star, Archive, Delete, Spam and Move. The action name shows behind the row as you swipe.

## How to swipe a message to act on it

1. Open **Settings** from the bottom of the menu, then **General settings**, then **Interaction**.
2. Tap **Right swipe** and choose an action.
3. Tap **Left swipe** and choose an action.
4. In the message list, swipe a row to use it.

## When to use it

> Suresh sets the left swipe to **Archive**, so one swipe files a mail he has dealt with.

## Options

## Good to know

- In the Outbox only Toggle selection and Delete work.
- Archive needs an Archive folder other than the one you are in. Spam works the same way.
- Delete, Spam and Archive on swipe can remove mail from the server, depending on your delete setting. Consider asking for confirmation.
