# Change how you write and reply

Open Settings, tap your account, then Sending mail. Set Composition defaults for your name, always-Bcc address and signature, choose the message format, decide whether to quote the original and where your reply goes, and show Cc and Bcc by default. Outgoing server edits the SMTP settings.

## How to change how you write and reply

1. Open **Settings** and tap your account.
2. Tap **Sending mail**.
3. Tap **Composition defaults** to set your name, **Always Bcc** and signature.
4. Change the other settings below.

## When to use it

> Priya sets her signature once in **Composition defaults** and every new mail carries it.

## Options

| Setting | Choices | Default |
|---|---|---|
| **Composition defaults** | Name, email, always Bcc, use signature, signature text, signature before or after the quoted text | Opens an editor |
| **Message Format** | Plain Text, HTML, Automatic | HTML |
| **Always show Cc/Bcc** | On, off | Off |
| **Quote message when replying** | On, off | On |
| **Reply after quoted text** | On, off | Off |
| **Quoted text prefix** | Text | > |
| **Outgoing server** | Edits server, security, port and sign-in | As set at account setup |

## Good to know

- An always-Bcc address receives a copy of every mail, so use it with care.
- Plain Text removes images and formatting from what you send.
- A wrong outgoing server setting stops sending. Mail then waits in the Outbox.
- Extra sender addresses (aliases) from your XgenPlus profile appear in the **From** list when you compose.
