# Open, save or share a mail attachment

Open the mail and find the attachment card. Tap View to open the file in a suitable app, Download to save it in a folder you choose, or Share to send it through the Android share sheet. Tapping an attached mail file opens it in the built-in viewer.

## How to open, save or share a mail attachment

1. Open the mail.
2. Tap **View** to open the file, **Download** to save it, or **Share** to send it on.
3. For **Download**, choose the folder where it should be saved.

## When to use it

> Suresh receives a forwarded mail as a file. He taps it and reads the original inside the app.

## Good to know

- Attachments larger than 128 MB cannot be viewed or downloaded in the app.
- On older Android the file picker may ask for storage permission first.
- Opening a file needs another app that can handle its type.
