# Chat with colleagues

To chat, click the **Chat** icon in the top bar of your mailbox. The chat app opens in a new browser tab, where you can message colleagues one to one or create a team group. The icon appears only if your administrator has turned on chat for you.

## How to chat with colleagues

1. Click the **Chat** icon in the top bar.
2. Switch to the new browser tab where the chat app opens.
3. Pick a colleague to message, or create a group for your team.

## When to use it

> The launch team at acme.in creates a "Launch-Oct" group in Chat and sorts out quick questions there instead of in long reply-all mail threads.

## Good to know

- Chat opens as a separate app in its own browser tab, not inside the mailbox window.
- Chat reaches only people in your organisation, not people outside it.
- Your administrator turns chat on for the domain and for each user.

## Common questions

**Why don't I see the Chat icon?**

Chat must be turned on for both your domain and your account. Ask your administrator.
