# Recipient and daily sending limits

Your administrator can limit how many people one mail can go to and how many mails you can send in a day. If a mail has too many recipients, an alert gives the limit, so split it into smaller mails. If a send would pass your daily limit, the **Daily Mail Quota** box shows what is allowed and already sent.

## How to recipient and daily sending limits

1. Write your mail and click **Send**.
2. If an alert says you cannot send to more than a number of people, remove recipients or split the list into several mails.
3. If the **Daily Mail Quota** box opens, compare **Total outgoing mail allowed** with **Outgoing mail already sent**.
4. Reduce the recipients so the mail fits, or send the rest the next day.

## When to use it

> Neeraj in marketing has a daily limit of 500 mails. He tries to send an offer to a 700-member contact group, and the Daily Mail Quota box shows the send would exceed his quota. He splits the group and sends the second half the next morning.

## The Daily Mail Quota box

| Line | Meaning |
|---|---|
| **Total outgoing mail allowed** | Your limit for the day. |
| **Outgoing mail already sent** | How many you have sent today. |
| This group or mailing list has | How many mails a group or list counts as. |
| **Quota Exceeded** | This send would take you over the limit. |

## Good to know

- Both limits are set by your domain or server administrator. If no daily limit is set, the quota box does not appear.
- To, Cc and Bcc all count towards the recipient limit.

## Common questions

**How does a group count towards my daily limit?**

Every member of a contact group or mailing list counts as one mail. The quota box shows how many mails the group or list adds up to.

**Can I see my limits in advance?**

The limits are set by your administrator. Ask your admin if you regularly send to large lists.
