# Narrow down your search results

To narrow search results, run a search first, then reopen Advanced Search with the filter icon and tick **Search Results** (search within the previous results). Add the new filters, such as a sender or attachment type, and click **Search**. XgenPlus searches only the mails already in your results, so the list gets shorter each time.

## How to narrow down your search results

1. Run a search from the search box or Advanced Search.
2. Click the filter icon to reopen Advanced Search.
3. Tick **Search Results**.
4. Add the new filters and click **Search**.

## When to use it

> Priya, a lawyer, searches for "contract" and gets 400 mails. She then searches within the results for mail from one counterparty, and again for mails with attachments, until only the five she needs are left.

## Good to know

- The **Search Results** option appears only after you have run a search.
- Some choices from the first search, such as Read or Unread, stay fixed while you refine.
- Searching within results is not available for **Archive of Deleted Emails** searches.
