# Print a password-protected PDF attachment

XgenPlus does not restrict password-protected PDF attachments after you open them in webmail or the mobile app. To print one, open the PDF in Chrome or Brave, enter its password and press **Ctrl + P**. Choose your printer or **Save as PDF** and print. Whether printing is allowed depends on the PDF's own permissions, your browser or your PDF app.

## How to print a password-protected PDF attachment

1. Open the mail and open the PDF attachment in Chrome or Brave.
2. Enter the PDF's password.
3. Press **Ctrl + P**.
4. Choose your printer, or **Save as PDF**.
5. Click **Print**, or **Save**, if the PDF allows it.

## When to use it

> Ravi gets his salary slip as a password-protected PDF. He opens it in Chrome, types the password from the mail, presses Ctrl + P and prints it.

## Good to know

- The password belongs to the PDF, not to XgenPlus. The sender usually tells you what it is.
- Printing depends on your browser or PDF app and on the PDF's own permissions.
- To print the mail itself, see [Print a mail](/mail/print-a-mail/).

## Common questions

**Does XgenPlus stop me printing a protected PDF?**

No. XgenPlus does not restrict password-protected PDF attachments once you open them in webmail or the mobile app. If printing is blocked, the PDF's own permissions, your browser or your PDF app is stopping it.

**Why is Print greyed out for my PDF?**

The person who made the PDF may have turned off printing in its permissions. Ask the sender for a copy that allows printing.
