# Open a mail someone shared with you

To read a mail shared with you, open **Shared By Other** or the shared folder and click the mail. A **Shared By** or **Folder Shared By** banner shows who shared it. You can always read it and add notes. Reply, Forward and Delete work only if the person who shared it allowed them.

## How to open a mail someone shared with you

1. Open **Shared By Other** in the sidebar, or a folder shared with you.
2. Click the mail. The **Shared By** banner shows who shared it.
3. Use the actions you have permission for, or add a note for the person who shared it.

## When to use it

> Ravi, a manager at acme.in, shares an escalation mail with his deputy Anita. She sees "Shared By: RAVI" on it. She can reply to the customer, but she cannot delete the mail.

## Good to know

- **Block** and some other actions are hidden on shared mails.
- Notes you add are visible to the person who shared the mail.

## Common questions

**Why do I get "You donot have the permission to reply a mail"?**

The person who shared the mail did not give you reply permission. Ask them to change the sharing permissions, or to reply themselves.

**Can I share it on with someone else?**

Only if the person who shared it with you allowed further sharing. If so, you see the **Share** button on the mail.
