# Play a sound when new mail arrives

To hear a sound for new mail, open **Settings › Default Settings** and turn on **Notification Tone**. Pick **Default** or one of your own tones from the list, and click **Play** to hear it. To use your own sound, click **Upload** and choose a file of up to 10 MB. **Remove** deletes a tone you uploaded.

## How to play a sound when new mail arrives

1. Click your profile picture, then **Settings**, and open **Default Settings**.
2. Turn on **Notification Tone**.
3. Choose a tone from the list and click **Play** to hear it.
4. To add your own sound, click **Upload** and choose the file.

## When to use it

> Suresh dispatches service engineers for a company on example.in and often works away from his screen. He uploads a distinctive chime so he hears new service requests from across the room.

## Good to know

- The sound plays while XgenPlus is open in your browser. Your browser or computer volume must be on.
