# Get a delivery report for a mail

To get a delivery report, click the **Delivery Report** icon at the bottom of the compose window so it is highlighted, then send. XgenPlus tells you whether the mail reached each recipient's mail server. Your domain must have delivery reports turned on. Reports are not available for mail sent to a mailing list.

## How to get a delivery report for a mail

1. In the compose window, click the **Delivery Report** icon so it is highlighted.
2. Send the mail.
3. Open the mail in **Sent** to see its delivery status.

## When to use it

> A legal team sends a contract notice to a counter-party and turns on Delivery Report. They keep the report as proof the notice reached the other side's mail server on time.

## Good to know

- In Classic compose, tick the **Delivery Report** checkbox in the mail delivery settings.
- A delivery report confirms the mail reached the server, not that a person read it.

## Common questions

**Is a delivery report the same as a read receipt?**

No. A delivery report says the mail reached the recipient's server. A read receipt asks the recipient's mail app to tell you when the mail is opened.

**Can I turn it on for every mail?**

Yes. Turn on **Delivery Report** under Settings › **Default Settings**.

**Why is the Delivery Report icon greyed out?**

Your domain has delivery reports turned off, or the mail is going to a mailing list, or encryption settings block it for this mail.
