# Colour-code incoming mail automatically

To colour mail automatically, open **Settings › Rules/Advance Forwarding**, set a condition on the **Rules** tab, choose the action **Set Color**, pick a colour and click **Save**. New mail that matches the condition shows in that colour in your mail list. You can later search for mail by its colour.

## How to colour-code incoming mail automatically

1. Open **Settings › Rules/Advance Forwarding** and stay on the **Rules** tab.
2. Choose a condition under **Rule**, for example **From contains**, and type the text, such as @bigclient.in.
3. Under **Action**, choose **Set Color**.
4. Pick the colour in **Label Color**.
5. Click **Save**.

## When to use it

> Anita manages the account of a large client for acme.in. She colours all mail from @bigclient.in red, so their mails jump out of a busy Inbox.

## Good to know

- The colour applies to mail that arrives after you save the rule.
- You can also colour a single mail by hand from the open mail.
- To list all mail of one colour, use **Search by Color Code** in Advanced Search.
- The rule counts towards the number of rules your administrator allows.
