# Auto-reply to selected senders

To auto-reply to selected mail, open **Settings › Rules/Advance Forwarding**, set a condition on the **Rules** tab, and choose the action **Auto Reply**. Write your text in **Auto Reply Message**, optionally tick **Attach Mail Body**, click **OK** and then **Save**. Each sender gets at most one automatic reply a day.

## How to auto-reply to selected senders

1. Open **Settings › Rules/Advance Forwarding** and stay on the **Rules** tab.
2. Choose a condition under **Rule** and type the text to match in **Message**.
3. Under **Action**, choose **Auto Reply**. The **Auto Reply Message** panel opens.
4. Write the reply and tick **Attach Mail Body** if the reply should quote the original mail.
5. Click **OK**, then **Save**.

## When to use it

> The support desk at acme.in creates a rule "To contains support@acme.in" with the action **Auto Reply**: "We have received your request. Our team replies within 4 business hours." Every customer gets an acknowledgement without anyone typing it.

## Options

| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| **Auto Reply Message** | The reply text. You can format it and type in Indian languages. Up to 4000 characters. |
| **Attach Mail Body** | Quotes the sender's original mail under your reply. |
| **Show Auto Reply Message** | Shows the reply text of a saved rule. |

## Good to know

- The reply is sent from your own address, and the subject says it was sent automatically in response to the original mail.
- For each sender only one automatic reply is sent in a day.
- XgenPlus does not send an auto-reply to your own address.
- The rule counts towards the number of rules your administrator allows.

## Common questions

**How is this different from Out of Office?**

Out of Office replies to everyone for a set period. An Auto Reply rule replies only to mail that matches the rule's condition, and stays on until you delete the rule.

**How do I check the text of an existing auto-reply?**

In the rules list, use **Show Auto Reply Message** next to the rule.
