# Add a Storage file link to a mail

To link a stored file, open Classic compose and click **Add Storage Link**. Pick a file from your Storage (Virtual Storage), or upload a new one, and add it to the mail. Recipients get a download link instead of an attachment. Keep the file in Storage, because deleting it breaks the link.

## How to add a Storage file link to a mail

1. Click the arrow next to **Compose Mail**, turn on **Classic** and click **Compose Mail**.
2. Click **Add Storage Link**.
3. Choose a file from your Storage, or upload one.
4. Click **Attach** (or **Send Link**) and send the mail.

## When to use it

> Aditi in HR mails the 40 MB employee handbook to 300 staff. Instead of attaching it, she adds a Storage link, so every mailbox gets a small mail and the handbook stays in one place.

## Good to know

- This option is in Classic compose. To switch, click the arrow next to **Compose Mail** and turn on **Classic**.
- In Classic compose, the attach button lets you choose **File** or **Link**.
- If you delete the file in Storage, the link in the mail stops working.
