# Download responses as CSV

To download answers, open the form's **Responses** page and click **Download CSV**. You get a spreadsheet file with every answer. If the form has file questions, click **Download all with files (ZIP)** to get the CSV and a folder of the uploaded files, or **CSV only**.

## How to download responses as CSV

1. Open Your forms and click **Responses** on the form.
2. Click **Download CSV**. For a form with file questions, choose **Download all with files (ZIP)** or **CSV only**.
3. Open the file in Excel or any spreadsheet app.

## When to use it

> Before the free retention period ends, Anita downloads the customer survey as a CSV, adds it to a spreadsheet with last year's results and builds a pivot table.

## Good to know

- On the free allowance, answers stay on the form for 30 days after you close it, and XgenPlus emails you 7 days and 1 day before they are deleted. Download the CSV in that time.
- With Forms Plus, answers are kept for as long as it is active.
- Deleting a form deletes all its responses for good. Download first if you need them.

## Common questions

**What is in the ZIP?**

A responses file and a files folder. Each file is named with the response number, who sent it, the question and the time.

**Do deleted responses appear in the CSV?**

No. A response you delete is removed from the table and from the CSV.
