# Stop a contact appearing as you type

To stop a contact being suggested, open **Contacts**, find the contact and click the green icon next to it (**click here to remove this contact from search**). It no longer appears when you type in To, Cc or Bcc, but stays in your address book. Click the icon again to bring it back. Groups have the same icon.

## How to stop a contact appearing as you type

1. Open **Contacts** and find the contact or group.
2. Click the green icon next to it to remove it from search.
3. To show it again, click the same icon (**click here to add this contact in search**).

## When to use it

> Rohit keeps picking a former colleague's old address by mistake. He clicks the icon next to that contact, so it never shows up in the suggestions again, and the contact stays in his address book for reference.

## Good to know

- Suggestions in To, Cc and Bcc come from your contacts, your groups, people you mailed recently and the organisation directory.
- Hiding a contact from suggestions does not delete it or block mail from it.
