# Set up XgenPlus mail in Thunderbird

To add XgenPlus to Thunderbird, turn on IMAP in XgenPlus and create an app password. In Thunderbird, add a new mail account, enter your name, address and app password, and click **Configure manually**. Choose IMAP on port 993 with SSL/TLS and SMTP on port 465 with SSL/TLS, using your full address as user name.

## How to set up XgenPlus mail in Thunderbird

2. In Thunderbird, choose to add a new mail account.
3. Enter your name, XgenPlus address and app password, then click **Configure manually**.
4. Fill in the incoming and outgoing server settings from the table.
5. Click **Re-test**, then **Done**.

## When to use it

> Vivek works on Linux and uses Thunderbird. He sets up IMAP only for this year's mail, so the first sync is quick.

## Settings to enter

## Good to know

- These server names are the same for every XgenPlus customer. Check the spelling, the ports and that your app password is correct.
- Thunderbird can also sign and encrypt with your XgenPlus S/MIME certificate after you import the .p12 file.

## Common questions

**Thunderbird suggests settings by itself. Can I accept them?**

Check them first. XgenPlus has no automatic set-up, so Thunderbird's guess may be wrong. Use the values in the table.
