# Set up XgenPlus in Apple Mail on a Mac

To add XgenPlus to Apple Mail on a Mac, turn on IMAP in XgenPlus and create an app password. In Mail, choose **Add Account**, then **Other Mail Account**. Enter your name, address and app password. When Mail cannot find the servers, choose IMAP and enter the incoming and outgoing server names. Use your full address as user name.

## How to set up XgenPlus in Apple Mail on a Mac

1. In XgenPlus, turn on IMAP in **Settings › Enable POP/IMAP** and create an app password.
2. In Mail on your Mac, open the **Mail** menu and choose **Add Account**.
3. Choose **Other Mail Account** and enter your name, XgenPlus address and app password.
4. When asked, choose IMAP and enter the incoming and outgoing server names.
5. Click **Sign In** and choose what to sync.

## When to use it

> Sneha uses a MacBook and wants work and personal mail in one place. She adds XgenPlus to Apple Mail next to her Gmail account.

## Settings to enter

| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Account type | IMAP |
| Incoming mail server | imaps.xgenplus.com |
| Outgoing mail server | smtps.xgenplus.com |
| User name | Your full email address |
| Password | Your XgenPlus app password |
| Ports | 993 incoming with SSL, 465 outgoing with SSL (or 587 with STARTTLS) |

## Good to know

- If Mail does not ask for ports, open the account's **Server Settings**, untick automatic settings and enter them.
- These server names are the same for every XgenPlus customer. Check the spelling, the ports and that your app password is correct.

## Common questions

**Mail says it cannot verify the account. What now?**

Check that IMAP is turned on in XgenPlus, that you used the app password, and that the ports are 993 for incoming and 465 for outgoing with SSL. Then see the troubleshooting page.
