# Get a reminder before an event

To add a reminder, open the event in **Calendar** and click **Enable** next to **Reminder**. Set how many minutes before the event it should go and click **Save**. You get a notification in webmail while you are signed in, and on your phone because the XgenPlus mobile app syncs your calendar to the phone's calendar.

## How to get a reminder before an event

1. Open the event in **Calendar**, or create a new one.
2. Click **Enable** next to **Reminder**.
3. Set the number of minutes before the event.
4. Check or change the address under **via Email**. You can add more than one address.
5. Click **Save**.

## When to use it

> Rohit has a client visit at 11 am. He sets a reminder 30 minutes before, so his phone alerts him in time to leave the office.

## Options

| Option | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Before N minutes | How long before the start the reminder is sent. | 10 minutes |
| **via Email** | The address the reminder mail is sent to. | Your own address |
| **Enable** / Disable | Turns the reminder on or off for this event. | |

## Good to know

- If you are signed in to webmail, you get a notification there when the reminder is due.
- On your phone, the reminder appears because the XgenPlus mobile app syncs your calendar to the phone's own calendar. Install the app and turn on calendar sync on your phone.
- Each event has its own reminder. Turn it on for every event you want reminding about.
- To be reminded about a mail rather than a meeting, use reminders in compose. See the related page.
