# Open the admin console

Open your own webmail, click your profile picture in the header and choose Admin. Enter the login code from your XgenPlus app or sent to your alternate email, then click Submit. The admin console opens on the Dashboard. Billing administrators choose Report instead of Admin. The code is asked once per sign-in.

## How to open the admin console

1. Sign in to your webmail with the mailbox that holds the admin role.
2. Click your profile picture in the header, then choose **Admin**. Billing administrators choose **Report**.
3. On the login code page, type the code in **Enter code**.
4. Click **Submit**. The admin console opens on the **Dashboard**.

## What you see

When you choose **Admin** or **Report**, XgenPlus first asks you to confirm it is you. The page is titled **Please enter your login code** and has these parts.

| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| **Enter code** | Where you type the code. It takes letters and digits only, up to 10 characters, and small letters turn into capitals as you type. Pressing Enter also submits. |
| **Submit** | Checks the code and opens the admin console. |
| **Go To Inbox** | Takes you back to your mailbox without opening the console. |
| **Email** | Sends a code to the alternate email address saved in your profile. |
| **Notification** | Sends a code to your phone through the XgenPlus app. |
| **Resend Code** | Appears after a code is sent. It counts down 30 seconds before you can use it again. |

You do not type your password on this page.

## What opens first

The console opens on the **Dashboard**, which shows the mail flow of your domain. Domain administrators, Support administrators and Group administrators see the **Admin** item. Billing administrators see **Report** and open the same console with the menus meant for billing.

## Example

> Meera is the domain administrator of acme.in. She signs in to her mailbox, clicks her profile picture and chooses **Admin**. She opens the XgenPlus app, copies the web login code, types it in **Enter code** and clicks **Submit**. The Dashboard for acme.in opens.

## Good to know

- You are asked for the code the first time you open the console after signing in. Opening it again in the same sign-in does not ask again.
- **Invalid auth-code** means the code was wrong or has expired. Request a new one and try again.
- If you see that an alternate email or app device is not registered, add it in your own **Settings** first, then ask for the code again.
- If you refresh the browser page while you are in the console, you may be sent back to webmail. Choose **Admin** again.
- Use the **Mail** shortcut in the console sidebar to go back to your own mailbox.

## Common questions

**I do not see Admin in my profile menu.**

Your mailbox does not hold an admin role. Ask your domain administrator to set your **User Type**. Assignment Users work from **Assignments** in the profile menu and do not open this console.

**How do I get the code?**

Open the XgenPlus app on your phone and use its web login option, or click **Email** or **Notification** on the code page to have a code sent to your alternate email address or your app.
