# Add many alias addresses from a CSV

To add aliases in bulk, open Admin console › Manage Domain(s) › your domain › Bulk Add and click the Alias tab. Download alias.csv, fill one row per alias with the login name, alias address and a default flag of 0 or 1, then click Upload and choose the file.

## How to add many alias addresses from a CSV

1. Open **Manage Domain(s)**, expand your domain and click **Bulk Add**.
2. Open the **Alias** tab and download the example file next to **Example Of CSV File**.
3. Fill in one row per alias and save the file as CSV.
4. Click **Upload** next to **Import file containing list of alias(es)**, then choose your file.
5. Match the headers, then confirm and read the summary of valid and invalid rows.

## CSV columns

| Column | What to enter | Required |
|---|---|---|
| **Email Address /Login Name** | The user who gets the alias, for example `rajeev`. The domain is added if you leave it out. | Yes |
| **Alias Address** | The extra address, for example `rajeev.singh@acme.in`. | Yes |
| **Default Alias** | 1 makes it the user's default alias. 0 means it is not the default. | Yes |

## After you upload

1. Under **Xgen Plus Header** and **Your CSV File Header**, check that each header points to the right column. Use **None** for a column you do not have. Each column can be used once.
2. Confirm. The page then shows the **Total No. of Records**, **Total No. of Valid Alias Add successfully** and a list of duplicate aliases.
3. Rows with a problem appear under **List of Invalid**. Correct a row and click **Save**, or click **Save All**.

## Example

> After a rebrand, acme.in gives every sales user a second address in the form first.last@acme.in. Anita prepares one CSV of 80 rows with Default Alias set to 0, uploads it under **Bulk Add** › **Alias**, and fixes the three invalid rows from the summary.

## Good to know

- Only CSV files are accepted.
- The alias must belong to a domain your domain is allowed to use. Domain aliases are managed in your domain settings.
- Only one upload runs at a time. If you see **Already Processing**, wait for the current file to finish.

## Common questions

**What does Default Alias do?**

Put 1 to make that alias the user's default address, or 0 to keep it as an extra address only.

**Why was my alias refused?**

Common reasons are an empty alias address, a default flag that is not 0 or 1, an alias that is the same as the login name, or an alias on a domain that is not one of your domain's allowed domains.
