# Find your way around the admin console

The admin console has a header with the audit log, your profile and Logout, a sidebar with four shortcuts (Dashboard, Mail, Add User, Logs), a Navigation menu and a search box. As domain administrator, expand Manage Domain(s) and your domain name to reach users, groups, policy and tools. Backup & Archival and Reports sit above it.

## How to find your way around the admin console

1. Open the admin console from webmail. The **Dashboard** opens first.
2. Use the four icons at the top of the sidebar for **Dashboard**, **Mail**, **Add User** and **Logs**.
3. Under **Navigation**, open **Manage Domain(s)** and click your domain name to see its items.
4. Open **Reports** or **Backup & Archival** from the same menu when you need them.
5. Type a user, email address or mobile number in the search box at the top to find a user quickly.
6. Check the **You are here** line above the page to see where you are.
7. Click your email at the top right to see your role, last login IP and last sign-in time, or click **Logout**.

## The header

| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Domain logo | Shows the logo set in your domain theme. |
| Language box | Type here in English letters to get text in Hindi and other languages, then copy it into any field. A language list sits to its left. |
| Audit log icon | Opens your five most recent audit log entries. |
| Your email and picture | Opens your name, email, role, **Last Login IP** and **Date - Time** of your last sign-in. |
| **Logout** | Signs you out of the admin console and webmail. |

## The sidebar shortcuts

The four icons at the top show their name when you hover over them.

| Icon | What it does | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| **Dashboard** | Shows the mail flow of your domain. | Everyone |
| **Mail** | Takes you to your own mailbox. | Everyone |
| **Add User** | Opens the form to add a mailbox. | Domain administrators |
| **Logs** | Opens the Graphical Report. | Domain administrators |

## The Navigation menu for a domain administrator

| Menu | What is in it |
|---|---|
| **Backup & Archival** | **Backup**, **Restore**, **Archival**. |
| **Reports** | **Domain Statistics**, **Graphical Report**, **Intrusion Detection**. |
| **Manage Domain(s)** › your domain | **Add User**, **Manage Users**, **Delete Users**, **Manage Groups**, **Shout Box**, **Bulk Add**, **Bulk Update**, **Domain Cleaner**, **Mailing Lists**, **Alert/Notice**, **S/MIME / PKI**, **Policy**, **Service Report**, **Add Themes**, **Locate Email Address**, **Template**, **Add Resource Type**, **Add Resource**. |

A small pencil next to your domain name opens **Edit Domain**. **Mailing Lists** appears only if mailing lists are turned on for your domain. Long domain names are shortened in the menu, and the full name shows when you hover over it.

## The search box and the line above the page

The box at the top of the page finds a user in your domain by name, email address or mobile number. If your domain administrator account was given access to other domains, the box also takes a domain name. The **You are here** line shows the page you are on, and its first icon brings you back to the **Dashboard**. The arrow button at the edge of the sidebar hides or shows the sidebar.

## What other roles see

| Role | Shortcuts | Navigation menu |
|---|---|---|
| Billing Administrator | **Dashboard**, **Mail** | **Reports** with **Reports** and **Add-On Services**, and **Service Report** under the domain. |
| Support Administrator | **Dashboard**, **Mail** | **Manage Users** under the domain. |
| Group Administrator | **Dashboard**, **Mail** | **Manage Groups** under the domain. The search box is switched off. |

## Example

> On her first morning at acme.in, Meera opens the console and lands on the Dashboard. She expands **Manage Domain(s)**, clicks acme.in and opens **Policy** to see what is set. Later she types rohit@acme.in in the search box to open his account.

## Good to know

- Your session details sit under your email at the top right, including your last sign-in IP. If you do not recognise it, change your password and tell your server administrator.
- Items change with your role. A menu you cannot see is not available to your role.

## Common questions

**Where is the menu for my users and groups?**

Open **Manage Domain(s)** in the Navigation menu, then click your domain name. Add User, Manage Users, Manage Groups and the other items are listed under it.

**I cannot see Backup & Archival or Reports.**

Those menus belong to domain administrators. Support and Group administrators see only the one item that matches their role, and Billing administrators see only Reports and the Service Report.
